I believe we are on an irreversible trend toward more freedom and democracy — but that could change.

Gallery: Arabs welcome US President on a trip to Israel and the disputed territories

"A Palestinian Hamas supporter steps on a poster of President Bush during a protest against his visit to Israel and the West Bank, in the Gaza City, Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008. Bush sought new footing Wednesday to pull Israel and the West Bank towards serious negotiations"
Palestinian State!? My foot!

"Armed and masked Palestinian supporters of the so-called 'Army of the Nation' protest against President Bush's visit to Israel and the West Bank, in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008. Some two dozen members of the al-Qaida-inspired group displayed their weapons for the first time Wednesday, part of a series of protests against the visit of U.S. President George W. Bush to Israel and the West Bank."

What the heck is 'Army of the Nation'? Seems like Pals can organize a terrorist group
faster than you can say: "Here comes another Qassam rocket". Are they loosely affiliated with the Aryan Nations? Would that make it "the Army of Al-Aryan Nations"?

"Palestinian Hamas supporters protest against the visit of President Bush to Israel and the West Bank, in the Gaza City, Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008.
Hamas will not be outdone by some Al-Aryan Nations upstart and showed up in force! Nice dental work. The virgins will surely be ecstatics!

Whatever does AP mean by "Palestinian Hamas". How many kinds are out there? I thought that on the West Bank Hamas is called Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, in Lebanon Hamas is called Hezbollah, In Egypt - Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya, and in Pakistan and New York - Al-Qaeda.

"Palestinian Hamas supporters burn a poster showing President Bush during a demonstration against his visit to Israel and the West Bank, in Gaza City, Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008."
One absolutely can not have a decent meeting in Gaza without a ritual burning of US President effigy. Must be the Sharia law. Does Koran commands Arabs to burn Bush specifically or any US President? A bit of a mystery here. There is no mystery about Koran and killing the Jews though. Oops, my mistake - also any infidel who refuses to submit to Allah.

Notice the careful framing of the shot. What do you want to bet that most of these shots were posed, practiced and repeatedly taken to get that perfect angle?

"Tough crowd for Bush : Thousands of members of the radical Islamic Jihad march through Gaza City shouting, "Death to Israel and America" in protest at US President George W. Bush's Middle East tour."

Of course, no Pals Demo can take place without some child abuse. Islamic Jihad is only too happy to oblige.

Silicone Valley, United States
I am a cantankerous man living and working in the Silicon Valley where reading books is an abomination that is virtually unheard of, frowned upon and may be detrimental to one's career. I avoid censure by never conceding that I ever read or owned a book in my life. If anyone accidentally glimpses my scant proficiency in any subject matter, I immediately accredit it to having glanced at DrudgeReport that day.
