I believe we are on an irreversible trend toward more freedom and democracy — but that could change.

emergency talks at UN Human Rights Council

Gaza Arabs have fired thousands of Qassam rockets into Israel since 2000, when Arafat unleashed the most violent and destructive Arab uprising in Israel yet.

Lo and behold: today UN Human Rights Council springs into action. UNHRC will hold an emergency meeting next week! It’s about time, I say.

But wait, what’s that they have on their emergency agenda? Examination whether Israel is committing abuses in the Palestinian territories.

The special session of the 47-member council was called after a petition was submitted by Syria and Pakistan [long time stalwarts of Human Rights and Democracy], on behalf of Arab and Islamic countries, according to a UN memo obtained by The Associated Press.

Gosh, where would we be in Human Rights if it wasn’t for vigilance of Arab and Islamic countries?!

I am a cantankerous man living and working in the Silicon Valley where reading books is an abomination that is virtually unheard of, frowned upon and may be detrimental to one's career. I avoid censure by never conceding that I ever read or owned a book in my life. If anyone accidentally glimpses my scant proficiency in any subject matter, I immediately accredit it to having glanced at DrudgeReport that day.
